You are cordially invited to attend the 2019 Indiana Public Library Trustee Summit on Friday, August 16th at the Indiana State Library. This full-day workshop (9AM - 3PM ET) will include information on communications, advocacy, and Indiana law and best practices. Come join us for networking and the opportunity to learn how your State Library, ILF and ALA can support you.

Our keynote speaker will be Sally Gardner Reed, consultant for Library Strategies, and former Executive Director of ALA’s United for Libraries. Sally spent nearly 20 years in library administration in small libraries, and is now a trusted consultant for library trustees, foundations and friends group. Sally is the author of 10 books including: The Complete Library Trustee Handbook; The Good, the Great and the Unfriendly: a Librarian’s Guide to Working with Friends Groups; and Small Libraries: A Handbook for Successful Management.

A lunch address on the trustee’s role in library advocacy will be provided by Lucinda Nord, Executive Director of the Indiana Library Federation. Additionally, the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services will present on community engagement.

Three breakout opportunities will be offered including:

  • Dealing with Conflict
  • Attracting new and diverse trustees
  • Communication in the Library
  • Committees, Meetings and Open Door Law/APRA
  • IN the Public Trust, Standards, and library policies
  • Services of the Indiana State Library
  • Library trends

Registration is $25 per person which includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and parking validation in the Government Center garages. Following registration, an invoice will be sent to the email address provided. Please allow us up to 5 business days to send the invoice. This may be paid with personal or library check or credit card (2.25% fee applies for card payments).
