STEM-ing Out webinar

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Event Details

“There is a growing emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, in schools, businesses, and public discussion these days.  Schools are struggling to find qualified teachers in STEM subjects, and businesses are having trouble finding skilled STEM graduates for jobs.  Meanwhile many graduates are missing out on some of the best paying jobs today. Libraries can play a key role in addressing these shortfalls.

In this webinar, leaders of both in-school and out-of-school STEM education groups in Indiana will describe how their organizations are addressing the STEM skills problem.  Then they will highlight some ways libraries can become engaged with community schools, businesses and organizations to advance opportunities for all Hoosier students.”

Participants will receive 1 LEU from their presenter within 30 days of the webinar.

Presenters:

Dr. Paul Ainslie is the Managing Director for the I-STEM Resource Network, based at Purdue University in West Lafayette.  He joined I-STEM after a 33 year career in electrical engineering and management

Bob Abrams is the STEM Program Director at the Indiana Afterschool Network.  Bob joined IAN after a successful career at Cummins in Columbus and working with the EcO15 organization in southeast Indiana. He also is the outgoing president of the Bartholomew County School Board in Columbus.
